Getting Your Feet Wet: Do I Want to Jump In?
YES! You want to jump in. However, it may take a little getting to know improv before making the commitment to jump in all the way. The instructors from The YES! Lab are super excited to show newbies some of the basic tools of our craft. These lessons are sure to make you question why you ever grew up and out of the sense of play you loved as a child. Together, we’ll explore how we innately have all the tools we need to be successful on stage; and how unlocking our forgotten sense of play brings us into the moment, enjoying ourselves and one another.

Crash Course, Part One
Working specifically with the principle of YES!, students will learn the foundation of Chicago-style improv in this fun and challenging eight-week workshop. It begins with short-form games and skill-building exercises designed to help students let go of mental conditioning that keeps them from being in this moment. The goal of Crash Course, Part One is to introduce students to group play and games that set their improv brain’s playfulness free within a group so that they may become comfortable being themselves on stage.

Kerstin Caldwell's Drop-In (For current YES! Lab students)
The focus for this month’s drop-in with Kerstin is “Spolin Play”. Utilizing the Mother of modern Improv’s philosophy on her work, we will dive into her intended outcome for specified focuses in each individual exercise. This is all about presence and play while letting the mind rest and relax. Who doesn’t need a little of that?
To make this drop-in workshop successful, interested improvisers who have completed Crash Course, Part Two must RSVP and reserve a space in each month's workshop. There is a minimum number of four participants to hold the workshop and a maximum of 12.
